Tim Southam's films explore subjects as diverse as life on the land, life in politics, and life in the arts. He has also worked as a director on several of the world's most-watched television series.His work includes the feature film The Bay of Love and Sorrows, the feature documentary Drowning in Dreams, the television movie One Dead Indian, the miniseries Trudeau: Maverick in the Making, the stage-inspired films L'Histoire de l'oie, Perreault Dancer, Satie and Suzanne, and the series House, Hell on Wheels Colony, Bones and Bates Motel, serving on the latter as Producing Director.Awards include three best directing Geminis and nominations for the Genie, Jutra and Grammy awards.Before becoming a filmmaker Tim studied economics, philosophy and literature at the University of Toronto and gained a master's degree in political economy at the London School of Economics.
